Mercer Health’s Mercer County Joint Township Community Hospital recently received the Auditor of State Award from Dave Yost, Auditor of State of Ohio, based upon its recent completed financial audit. A letter from Yost reads, “It gives me great pleasure to inform you that the Mercer County Joint Township Community Hospital has received the Auditor of State Award. Clean and accurate record-keeping are the foundation for good government, and the taxpayers can take pride in your commitment to accountability.”
The Auditor of State Award is given to those entities that file timely financial reports in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Practices), as well as receive a “clean” audit report. The “clean” audit report means the financial audit did not contain findings for recovery, material citations, material weaknesses, significant deficiencies, Single Audit findings or any questioned costs. A press release from the office of the Ohio Auditor of State, Dave Yost, indicates, “Auditor of Sate Dave Yost’s office is responsible for auditing all public entities in Ohio. His mission is to protect Ohioans’ tax dollars while aggressively fighting fraud, waste and misuse of public money. The office is responsible for auditing more than 5,900 state and local government agencies.” Fifty-three of the 5,900 received the Auditor of State Award this year.
George Boyles, Senior Vice President and CFO at Mercer Health states, “Our team has attained this significant achievement for three years in a row now which makes it even more monumental. This is truly a credit to the accounting department for their diligence and all our team for their commitment to being good financial stewards for the betterment of the Mercer Health organization.”
