At Mercer Heath, a comprehensive sleep
evaluation is available for people who have a sleep disorder.
Following an initial consultation with a physician who specializes
in treating patients with sleep disorders, an individual
may undergo a night time sleep study in the comfortable bedroom
suites located at the Mercer County Community Hospital Sleep
Care Center. During a sleep study, the patient’s sleep
patterns, leg movements, blood oxygen levels, heart rhythm,
breathing
and snoring are constantly monitored by the sleep technician.
A night time sleep study can help diagnose a variety of
sleep disorders including obstructive sleep apnea, insomnia,
narcolepsy, primary snoring and limb movement disorder. The
results of the study are reviewed by the Sleep Care physician
and recommendations are forwarded to the patient’s
primary care physician.
