At Mercer Health, we are dedicated to providing excellent imaging services to the community. Our Radiology Department combines state-of-the-art technology with a caring and experienced staff.

Radiology readings are provided by Columbus Radiology Corporation. This service offers a staff of over 30 physicians specially trained in diagnosing the wide range of images offered at Mercer Health. With our digital technology, we can provide off site readings. This offers our patients the security of knowing specialists will be reading each exam we perform, providing their physician with the most knowledgeable and accurate diagnosis possible.

CT Scan

Computed Tomography (CT) is a medical diagnostic tool that allows the visualization of internal structures within the human body. This aids physicians in diagnosing disease, viewing internal abnormalities and assessing the extent of trauma damage.

Our CT Scan is often used in cardiac and coronary vessel analysis, emergency room situations, stroke assessment, cancer care, spinal injuries, abdominal injuries, and Kidney, Liver and Lung exams.

The CT Scanner at Mercer Health lets clinicians complete extremity exams in a minimum amount of time while tailoring image quality for accurate viewing by the physician.

Digital Radiology

Mercer Health introduced the area to digital radiology. This advanced system provides a more accurate image than traditional x-rays and allows images to be sent directly to your doctor or to other specialists anywhere in the world.

MRI

Mercer Health is the only health care provider in west central Ohio that offers an in house Magnetic Resonance Imaging unit that features an extra large opening in the middle. This large opening (called an “open bore”) provides more room and comfort than most MRI scanners and reduces that claustrophobic feeling that often is associated with MRI exams.

Because of this “open bore”, we can examine patients up to 550 pounds without making them feel trapped in an enclosed space. MRI procedures include testing of joints, the spine, the brain, the abdominal area, breasts and vascular veins.

Women’s Center

Our Women’s Center provides Digital Mammography and Bone Density services. The Center offers a private and relaxed atmosphere for its patients.

We are proud to offer digital mammograms to our patients. Digital Mammograms are proven to be significantly more effective than standard film mammograms in detecting tumors in women under 50, those with dense breast tissue and women entering menopause.

Our equipment uses 60% less radiation than other mammography units on the market today, for the safest form with improved accuracy and shorter exam times. We also take every measure to insure your comfort, from using mammopads to our compassionate staff that will treat you with the care and respect you deserve.

Our Bone Density service offers low density radiation for the diagnosis of osteoporosis. Because nothing is more important than your health, make time to discuss bone density with your doctor.

Ultrasound

This technology uses a form of sound waves to examine a wide range of internal organs. Perhaps the most common use is for the examination of unborn babies.

Our Ultrasound Service is accredited by the American College of Radiology. This is a national organization that awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer review. Evaluators assess the qualifications of the personnel and the adequacy of facility equipment.

Vascular Screenings:  Patient Authorized, Direct Access Testing

Mercer Health offers several vascular screenings as a part of the Patient Authorized, Direct Access Testing program.

Other Accreditations

In addition to our Ultrasound Services, our Radiology Department is accredited by the American College of Radiology in MRI, and Mammography – assuring quality care for our patients. We will also become accredited in CT Scan and Nuclear Medicine in 2011.
