Our Cardiology Services Department, located in the new Outpatient Services area, uses state-of-the-art technology to evaluate heart function and diagnose heart disease and disorders. Our staff has an average of 25 years of experience.
All Cardiology tests must have a physician’s order. The types of tests we offer include:
EKG: A brief recording of the electrical impulses or rhythm of the heart.
Holter Monitoring: This 24 to 48 hour test records the heart rhythm over a period of time. While the test is being conducted, the patient keeps a diary of activities so that it can be matched to unusual activity in the heart.
Event Monitoring: During this diagnostic procedure, the patient wears a heart monitor for 30 days. The monitor records unusual heart rhythm when activated by the patient.
Echocardiography: An Ultrasound test used to assess the function of the heart. An Echocardiogram can examine the heart muscle, heart valves and blood flow through the heart.
Cardiac Rehabiliation: Mercer Health's Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Services is an extension - not a replacement - of the primary physician's plan of care. It is our goal to empower our patients with the knowledge, confidence and desire to reach and maintain improved fitness and a healthy lifestyle.
Patients are accepted into our Program through direct referral from their doctor, pulmonologist or cardiologist. Many patients have experienced the benefits of cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, including improvement of exercise tolerance; improvement in symptoms; improvement in blood lipids; improvement in psychosocial well-being; and reduction in stress.
We are very pleased to offer this services to the community. It is our goal to empower our patients with the knowledge, confidence and desire to reach and maintain improved fitness and a healthy lifestyle.
