General Information/Personal Care Aide
The following is a general description of what the aide is and is not permitted to do.
Personal care
- The aide may do bathing, skin care, shampoo, oral hygiene and assist with dressing. Fingernails and toenails may be trimmed except for clients with diabetes, on coumadin therapy, or with poor circulation or at the discretion of the Registered Nurse.
- Aides may assist with ambulation, transfers and changes in position.
- Aides may assist with toileting, use of bed pans and urinals.
- The aides shall report any changes in the client's condition to the Registered Nurse.
Household Services - Essential to health care in the home
- The aide may change bed linens, do vacuuming/ sweeping and dusting of the client's immediate environment.
- Cleaning of the bathroom includes cleaning of the bath tub/sink prior to and after client use. The floor may be mopped only if it becomes wet.
Assist with Medication
- The aide may assist you with medication that is ordinarily self administered.
Other Information
- The aide is not permitted to eat your food. They will bring their own food and drink.
- The aide is not permitted to smoke while working.
- Send your payment by mail. Do not give your check to the aide.
- Phone our agency for any change in your schedule. If you are not home and you failed to cancel your visit time and the aide comes to your home, you will be billed for one hour of service.
